Andy's Boots

After the very successful sponsored walk last year, several people mentioned that they would like to do a bit more group walking.

Walking is great exercise with obvious health benefits, and it also brings the opportunity to get out and explore more of our lovely local countryside.  Walking is a great social activity - it’s so easy to chat and make new friends.

Andy’s Boots is a new walking group which will belong to St Andrew’s but will  welcome others who would like to join.  We are especially keen to involve those who use the Parish Centre on a regular basis.   Walks will take place mostly on a weekday evening through the late spring/summer months and will be roughly 4 to 6 miles long, within a 7 mile radius of St Andrew’s.

All information about dates and walks will be sent out by email, e.g. how far, how hilly and the type of terrain.  So if you like the sound of doing some walking with some nice friendly people, all you need to do is give me your email address and I will send you everything you need to know.  There is no commitment or cost involved.

2017 - We are starting a little earlier this year. Our first walk will be on Monday 15th May and we will continue to walk every Monday evening through June and into July to make the most of the light evenings. After mid-July my summer plans are undecided so we'll fix dates for the second half of our season nearer the time.

22nd May.   Our second walk of the season will start by the church in the village of Hampton Lucy. We will walk out on a permissive path along a very pleasant section of the river and back along the Shakespeare Avon Way, with views of Hampton Lucy church and beyond. (Anyone who did the WWW1 Memorial Walk with us a couple of years ago will remember this bit, as we got drenched).  It's a lovely little walk, only 2.25 miles, fairly easy walking although there is one very short but quite steep section.  The grass along the river path is quite long and could be wet.  There are no stiles. If anyone is interested we can have a drink at the Boar's Head pub in Hampton Lucy before we head home.
Usual meet time, 6.50pm St Andrew's carpark.

Please contact Naomi - if you would like to join in the walks.
