Aiming to be open to God's word, to the love of Jesus and the guidance of the Holy Spirit
About St Andrew’s Church:
Shottery is an inclusive church that exists for two main reasons: to worship God and to serve the local area. We meet to pray and worship. We draw near to God, so that he can work with our fragile lives and restore his image and life in us.
We are a very mixed congregation. Our aim is to create an open and safe community, where people are encouraged and helped to meet the living God. We don’t claim to have all the answers and you are welcome to join us as we make the journey together. Christians talk about God as a mystery – not a puzzle to be solved, instead, a relationship to be entered into and an experience to be loved.
We want to grow and foster mature disciples (followers of Jesus) who live out their faith day by day. At St. Andrew’s, the Eucharist (Holy Communion) is central to our worship. We look to the scriptures (The Bible) to mould us and teach us. We try hard to love others as we experience God’s love for us. You are welcome to join and journey with us!
St Andrew’s is an inclusive church
We are church which celebrates and affirms every person and does not discriminate on disability, economic power, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, learning disability, mental health, neurodiversity, or sexuality.
We believe in a Church which welcomes and serves all people in the name of Jesus Christ; which is scripturally faithful; which seeks to proclaim the Gospel afresh for each generation; and which, in the power of the Holy Spirit, allows all people to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Jesus Christ.”
Core Mission Statement
We aim to be open to God's word, to the love of Jesus and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
We aim to be caring and Christ-centred, by loving God, our neighbour and God's astoundingly diverse creation.
Our Church
St Andrew’s Church is a friendly place of worship & community, situated in the village of Shottery about a mile from Stratford upon Avon Town Centre, and near to Anne Hathaway’s Cottage.
St Andrew's Church dates from 1870 and became a parish in its own right in the early 1980’s, when the completely independent Parish of "Shottery St. Andrew" and a Vicar with traditional "Parsons Freehold" was established. In 1997, the Parish Centre was built to the rear of the church and at Easter 2005, the church building was re-ordered and physically extended.

What We Believe
We believe that Jesus Christ, born of the Virgin Mary, is the incarnate Son of God. Jesus is the one, as Christians, we try to follow. No one has ever taught quite as Jesus did and we believe that following him and trusting him in our daily lives is the best way we can live.
